Supplies
- 1 yard fabric
- 1 yard fabric for lining
- 1/2 yard batting
- 1 pack extra wide double-fold bias tape in coordinating color
- Coordinating thread
- Buttons or velcro
Instructions
1. Fold your outer fabric and place your laptop against the fold. Measure 1.5" on either side and 2" from the top. Note: if your laptop is thicker measure 2-2.5" on either side. Cut.
2. Fold your lining just like you did in step 1.
Place folds together and cut out your lining using your outer fabric for measurment.
3. Unfold your outer fabric and use this to cut out your batting.
4. Pin the batting to the wrong side of the outer fabric. Sew as close to edge as possible. Trim all excess batting on edges.
5. Fold the outer fabric right sides together and sew up both sides leaving the top open. Repeat for your lining.
6. Pin the lining inside of the outer shell and sew as close to the edge as possible. Trim the extra batting and fabric along the edge.
7. Pin double-folded bias tape along edge and sew.
8. Cut out your flap slightly wider than your case. I made the front corners round. Sew wrong sides together leaving a small space to turn inside out. Pin and sew double-folded bias tape to edge.
9. Pin and sew flap to back of case.
10. Sew button to front and make a button hole on the flap.
Live and Learn
Here are some ideas to make it better or different:- Add pockets to the outside of the case between steps 4 & 5
- Make the opening on the short side
- Instead of a button use velcro or a snap
- Instead of flap replace with a bungie cord and button or ribbon
